Cruelty Free Couture

Cruelty Free Couture

Couture is one of the most exciting times of the year for fashion makeup. It can be really playful with the use of amazing colours and embellishments. A few of the shows such a Valentino and Dior were very simple yet beautiful with a slightly ghostly, ethereal feel. Opaque textured skin was a big trend at the shows this season, nothing too glossy. The main focus was on the eyes. Chanel went for a more punky look rocking the Mohawk hair and flicks on the eyes. I want to recreate this look by the amazing Peter Phillips using all cruelty free products.

Skin Prep – NYR Purifying Palmarosa Mattifier – This product is great for prepping the skin to create a matte finish, you can also use this as a moisturiser.

Foundation – Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation
Apply the foundation to the centre of the face and blend outwards. This product gives the skin a satin matte finish. You can use your fingers, brush or a sponge.

Eyeshadow- OCC Creme Colour Concentrate
A cream shadow is great for this look as the consistency needs to be quite dense. Using your finger or brush, apply a white shade on the inner corners of the eye taking it across half way in line with your pupil. Then take the gold and apply this to the outer corner of the eye lid and blend so it graduates into the white.

Eyeliner – Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Liner

This look has a really graphic eye liner which has been applied after the shadow. While keeping your eyes open trace along your upper lash line and bringing the liner out into a flick. If you find flicks tricky, a good tip is to use some surgical tape as a ruler. And keep cotton buds dipped in eye make up remover close by, to correct any mistakes.

Mascara – Trish McEvoy high volume mascara
This is one of my favourite mascaras. The brush isn’t too large so you can really get into the roots . Apply a few layers to build up volume.

Brows – Smashbox Brow Tech To Go
The brows are quite strong for this look. This product is fantastic as the shape of the nib creates natural hair strokes. Lightly fill in your brows using a colour the same shade as your hair. The other end of the pencil has a brow gel which will keep them in place.

Cheeks – Stila Cream Colour Convertible
This look has a very subtle touch of colour on the cheeks. Using your finger dap a tiny amount of this cream blusher onto the apples and blend.

Lips – REN Vita Mineral Lip Balm -
You want to keep the lips clean and hydrated so this product is perfect. Apply with your fingers or a brush.
